In this GHL Wizard review, our verdict is simple: the plugin is worth it if you run memberships or WooCommerce on WordPress, and unnecessary if you only need forms and chat. GHL Wizard is the original name of Connector Wizard, a third-party WordPress plugin that connects a HighLevel sub-account to a WordPress site for memberships, tag-based content protection, WooCommerce automation and contact syncing.
The name causes confusion. “GHL Wizard” is also a YouTube channel and a label people use for GoHighLevel freelancers. There is no Chrome extension by that name in the Chrome Web Store. This review covers the plugin, which still lives at the ghl-wizard address on WordPress.org.
Below you’ll find what the plugin does, its current pricing, the pros and cons we look for when we connect WordPress to GoHighLevel, the main alternatives and who should buy it.
What is GHL Wizard?
GHL Wizard is a WordPress plugin built by Better Wizard that links WordPress to a HighLevel (LeadConnector) location. It was renamed LC Wizard and then Connector Wizard, but it is the same plugin. It turns CRM tags and memberships into WordPress access rules.
- Developer: Better Wizard (lead developer Niaj Morshed), first published on WordPress.org in February 2023.
- Current version: 2.2.8, updated July 2026, tested with WordPress 6.9. It needs WordPress 6.2+ and PHP 7.4+.
- Adoption: WordPress.org shows 900+ active installs and a 4.3 out of 5 rating from 6 reviews, so the user base is small.
- Not official: it is not made by HighLevel. HighLevel’s own plugin is LeadConnector, covered further down.
If you are new to the naming, our guide on what LeadConnector is and how it relates to GoHighLevel explains why so many tools carry “LC” or “LeadConnector” in their names.
What does the GHL Wizard plugin do?
The GHL Wizard plugin connects one HighLevel sub-account to WordPress so CRM data controls what happens on the site. Tags, memberships and custom values from GoHighLevel decide who sees which pages, while WooCommerce orders and WordPress sign-ups flow back into the CRM as contacts.
The useful mental model is two directions of data:
| Direction | What moves | Typical outcome |
|---|---|---|
| GoHighLevel → WordPress | Tags, memberships, custom values, contact fields, webhooks | A paying contact gets a WordPress account and sees members-only pages |
| WordPress → GoHighLevel | WooCommerce orders, form entries, user sign-ups | Buyers become tagged CRM contacts and enter your follow-up |
This is different from embedding a GHL form on a page. Embeds only collect leads, while GHL Wizard lets the CRM run access and personalization on the WordPress side.

GHL Wizard key features
GHL Wizard’s key features are tag-based content protection, membership plans managed by CRM tags, WooCommerce-to-CRM automation, two-way user sync, magic-link auto-login and shortcodes that display CRM data. Most of these are in the free version, with advanced protection and full syncing in paid plans.
Memberships and content protection
- Protect pages and posts by contact tags or membership level, and show or hide menu items by login status or tags.
- Membership statuses (Active, Payment Failed, Suspended, Cancelled) control access automatically, so a failed payment can close access without manual work.
- Associations let a parent account share access with child accounts, such as a family or a team.
- LearnDash course and group enrollment by tag, plus SureCart support.
WooCommerce automation
- Creates or updates CRM contacts from WooCommerce orders and applies product-specific tags.
- Can add buyers to a GoHighLevel workflow and, since version 2.2.7, book an appointment on purchase.
- Paid plans add tagging by order status and by product variant. Abandoned-cart recovery is listed as “upcoming”, so don’t buy it for that yet.
Users, login and shortcodes
- Creates WordPress users when a GoHighLevel workflow sends a webhook, and syncs users both ways (on login, or in bulk).
- Magic links log customers in without a password and can redirect them to a set page.
- Shortcodes show custom values, contact fields and transactions, add or remove tags, and display conditional content.
- Works with Contact Form 7 and Elementor.

How much does GHL Wizard cost?
GHL Wizard costs nothing for the Starter plan, $19 per month or $190 per year for one website, and $99 per month or $499 per year for up to 50 websites. One-time lifetime licenses are $499 (one site) and $999 (50 sites), according to Better Wizard’s pricing page in October 2026.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | One-time | Sites |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Free | Free | Not stated |
| Individual | $19 | $190 | $499 | 1 |
| Agency | $99 | $499 | $999 | Up to 50 |
- Free vs paid: paid plans add advanced content protection, full contact syncing and priority support (free users get community support).
- Refunds: the vendor offers a full refund if you cancel within 30 days of payment.
- Extra cost: installation help is a separate paid service.
- Not included: your HighLevel subscription. The plugin needs an active HighLevel account; see our GoHighLevel pricing breakdown for those plans.
Prices change, so confirm them on the vendor’s page before you buy.
GHL Wizard pros and cons
GHL Wizard’s main strength is that it lets GoHighLevel tags run WordPress memberships and WooCommerce follow-up without custom code. Its main weaknesses are a small user base, a third-party dependency on your CRM connection and pricing that adds up for agencies on monthly billing.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Free tier covers WooCommerce automation, custom values and basic memberships | Only 900+ active installs and 6 public reviews, so less community help |
| Membership status handles failed payments and cancellations | One public review reports a license key problem and a fatal error on install |
| Regular updates through 2026 (React settings panel, menu visibility, booking on purchase) | Not an official HighLevel product, so support comes from the vendor only |
| Agency license covers up to 50 sites | Abandoned-cart recovery is still “upcoming” |
The positive reviews mention responsive developer support. Still, test it on a staging copy of your site first, because a membership plugin touches logins, roles and protected pages at the same time.
What to check before you install GHL Wizard
Before installing GHL Wizard, check that your tag naming, WordPress roles and membership rules are planned first. Most problems we see when connecting WordPress to GoHighLevel come from messy tags and duplicate contacts, not from the plugin itself. Run through the checks below before you connect a live site.
- Pick the right sub-account. The plugin connects to one HighLevel location. Agencies with many clients need one connection per client site.
- Clean up tags. Access rules depend on exact tag names, so a renamed tag can lock members out. Agree on a naming convention before launch.
- Check for duplicate contacts. WooCommerce buyers who use a different email than their CRM record create a second contact without access.
- Back up the site. Test on staging and confirm protected pages still block logged-out visitors.
- Plan messaging consent. If buyers will get texts from GoHighLevel, your forms need proper SMS consent and your sub-account needs A2P 10DLC registration.
GHL Wizard alternatives
The main GHL Wizard alternatives are HighLevel’s own LeadConnector plugin for forms, chat and funnels, Zapier or Make for simple data handoffs, the HighLevel API for custom builds and HighLevel’s native memberships if you can move courses off WordPress. The table compares their best uses and trade-offs.
| Option | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| LeadConnector plugin (official) | Chat widget, forms, calendars, funnel pages on WordPress | No tag-based memberships or WooCommerce tagging |
| Zapier / Make | Sending orders or sign-ups into the CRM | Per-task costs and no WordPress access control |
| HighLevel API and webhooks | Custom rules a plugin can’t handle | Needs a developer and upkeep |
| HighLevel memberships | Courses and communities hosted in GoHighLevel | Content moves off your WordPress site |
The official plugin has 20,000+ active installs and is the safer choice for lead capture; our LeadConnector WordPress plugin guide covers it. For data handoffs, see our GoHighLevel Zapier integration guide, and for custom builds the GoHighLevel API overview.
GHL Wizard review verdict: is it worth it?
GHL Wizard is worth it for businesses that sell memberships, courses or WooCommerce products on WordPress and want GoHighLevel tags to control access. It is not worth it if you only need forms, chat and calendars, because HighLevel’s free official plugin already does that.
- Buy it if you run WooCommerce or a WordPress membership and want buyers tagged, followed up and granted access automatically. Start on the free tier.
- Choose the Agency plan if you manage several client WordPress sites; at $499 per year for up to 50 sites it beats single licenses quickly.
- Skip it if your site is simple lead capture, or if you plan to move the whole site into GoHighLevel anyway.
You can read the full feature list and changelog on the Connector Wizard page on WordPress.org.
WordPress and GoHighLevel not talking to each other?
If WordPress buyers never reach your CRM, members keep losing access or tags are a mess, the plugin is rarely the real problem. The connection works only when the sub-account, tags and follow-up behind it are built cleanly. We can review your current setup on a free call.
Our done-for-you GoHighLevel setup service connects your WordPress site, cleans up tags and contacts and builds the follow-up around it. If you would rather move off WordPress, we also handle GoHighLevel website builds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is GHL Wizard free?
Yes, GHL Wizard has a free Starter plan on WordPress.org that includes WooCommerce automation, custom values, basic memberships, basic content protection and basic contact syncing. Paid plans start at $19 per month for one website and add advanced content protection, full contact syncing and priority support from the developer.
Is GHL Wizard a Chrome extension?
No, GHL Wizard is a WordPress plugin, not a Chrome extension. There is no Chrome Web Store extension by that name. The plugin is now called Connector Wizard, previously LC Wizard, and it still uses the ghl-wizard address on WordPress.org. Several unrelated Chrome extensions for GoHighLevel exist, but they are different products.
Is GHL Wizard made by HighLevel?
No, GHL Wizard is made by Better Wizard, an independent developer of WordPress membership and eLearning plugins. HighLevel’s own WordPress plugin is LeadConnector, which handles chat widgets, forms, calendars and funnel pages. Support for GHL Wizard comes from Better Wizard by email and Zoom, not from HighLevel support.
What is the difference between GHL Wizard and the LeadConnector plugin?
The LeadConnector plugin puts GoHighLevel lead capture on WordPress: chat, forms, surveys, calendars and funnel pages. GHL Wizard goes the other way and lets CRM tags and memberships control WordPress access, users and WooCommerce follow-up. Many sites run both, using LeadConnector for capture and GHL Wizard for memberships.
Does GHL Wizard work with WooCommerce?
Yes, WooCommerce automation is one of GHL Wizard’s core features, even on the free plan. It creates CRM contacts from orders, applies product tags, can add buyers to a GoHighLevel workflow and can book appointments on purchase. Paid plans add tagging by order status and by product variant. Abandoned-cart recovery is not available yet.
Can GHL Wizard run a membership site?
Yes, GHL Wizard manages membership plans through GoHighLevel tags with statuses for active, payment failed, suspended and cancelled members. Access to protected pages and posts follows those statuses automatically. It also supports LearnDash course enrollment by tag and shared access for family or team accounts through associations.
