How to Cancel GoHighLevel (and What Happens to Your Data)

How to Cancel GoHighLevel (and What Happens to Your Data) – AutoGen CRM

Last updated:

To cancel GoHighLevel, go to Agency Settings, open Billing, click “Want to modify/cancel your subscription?”, then choose Cancel Plan and confirm. That is how to cancel GoHighLevel if you signed up directly with HighLevel. Before you click, export your data, plan for your phone numbers and domains, and check whether a cheaper option fits better, because cancelled accounts are deleted after 90 days.

Everything below comes from HighLevel’s help center and terms of service as of October 2026. AutoGen CRM is an independent GoHighLevel agency, so we cannot cancel accounts for you, but we can help you plan the exit or fix what is pushing you to leave.

How do I cancel my GoHighLevel subscription?

HighLevel’s billing FAQ lists these steps for agency accounts:

  1. Go to Agency Settings and click Billing.
  2. Click “Want to modify/cancel your subscription?”
  3. Click Show More in the pop-up.
  4. Select Cancel Plan.
  5. Choose your reason for cancellation, then click Next.
  6. Review the data loss warning.
  7. Click “I am sure I want to cancel.”
  8. Give feedback (HighLevel asks for at least 30 words), then click Submit.

HighLevel’s terms of service also say you can cancel through your account, by submitting a support ticket or by calling. The account settings route above is the most direct.

Cancelling during the free trial

HighLevel’s 14-day trial rolls into a paid plan when it ends, so if you decide HighLevel is not for you, cancel before the last day. Use the same Billing steps above, and save a screenshot of the confirmation for your records.

What if my account is a sub-account under an agency?

If an agency gave you access, you likely have a sub-account, and you do not pay HighLevel directly. HighLevel’s billing FAQ says that if you bought access through another agency, you need to contact that agency’s administrator, because HighLevel cannot cancel an account managed by another agency.

So the cancellation path depends on who you pay:

Your situationWho cancelsHow
You pay HighLevel directly (agency account)YouAgency Settings, Billing, Cancel Plan
You pay an agency for a sub-accountYour agencyAsk your agency admin under the terms of your contract with them
You are in the free trialYouCancel before the trial ends to avoid billing

Can I pause GoHighLevel instead of cancelling?

Sort of. HighLevel’s billing FAQ says agency accounts cannot be paused or placed on hold. In the same FAQ, it says your data is deleted 90 days after you cancel, and that you can use the $27 per month Pause Plan instead of cancelling to keep your data (as of October 2026).

The Pause Plan suits you if you might come back, or if you need more time to move data out. Ask HighLevel billing to confirm what the plan includes for your account before you switch.

Will I get a refund?

Probably not. HighLevel’s terms of service state that all fees it charges, including subscription fees, are non-refundable. The terms also say you must notify HighLevel in writing within 30 days of the invoice date to dispute a charge.

HighLevel’s billing FAQ says refund requests and billing disputes are reviewed by the HighLevel billing team. If you believe you were charged in error, contact billing quickly and include your account details.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

HighLevel’s help article on cancellation says the following happens:

  • You lose access to contacts, conversations, calendars, automations, funnels and other features right away.
  • Workflows stop running, and sub-accounts lose access too.
  • Add-on subscriptions are cancelled automatically.
  • Your data is kept for 90 days. HighLevel sends reminders 60, 30 and 5 days before deletion.
  • You can reactivate within those 90 days and keep your data. After that, deletion cannot be undone.

How to export your data first

HighLevel advises exporting anything important before you cancel. For contacts, its help article says to open Contacts, use Smart Lists and filters, select contacts, then choose More and Export. The file is built in the background and appears in Bulk Actions for download.

Keep these limits from HighLevel’s export article in mind:

  • Only admin users can export contacts.
  • Each sub-account must be exported separately.
  • Exports do not include automation history, such as past email and SMS logs.
  • Notes longer than 255 characters may be cut off.
  • Export files stay available for 30 days.

Also save copies of your funnel copy, email templates, workflow logic (screenshots work) and any financial records you need for taxes.

What happens to my phone numbers and A2P registration?

This is the part people miss. HighLevel’s help article says phone numbers and A2P registrations are deleted 14 days after cancellation, which is far sooner than the 90 days for the rest of your data. It also notes that charges can continue during those 14 days.

If you want to keep a business number, sort out the move before you cancel. HighLevel’s help center documents moving numbers into HighLevel and between HighLevel and Twilio, but we did not find a published guide for porting a number out to another carrier. Open a ticket with HighLevel support, and start the port request with your new carrier while your account is still active.

Your A2P 10DLC brand and campaign approval will not carry over once it is deleted. Plan to register again with your next texting provider, and leave time for review.

What about domains and email?

If you bought a domain inside HighLevel, transfer it out before you cancel. HighLevel’s help article says to open Settings, then Domains & URL Redirects, click Manage, and use the Transfer to Another Registrar option to get an EPP code. A domain registered or transferred within the past 60 days is not eligible.

Already cancelled? HighLevel says to submit a domain release request instead, and its support team reviews each one. If your domain is registered elsewhere, update your DNS records so your website and email sending point to their new home. Otherwise your site and sending domain may stop working when HighLevel shuts down.

Before you cancel: is the problem fixable?

Many people who want to leave HighLevel are really frustrated with a setup that never worked. Common, fixable reasons include:

  • Workflows that send duplicate texts or fire at the wrong time
  • Leads not landing in the pipeline
  • Texting blocked because A2P registration was rejected
  • Paying for a plan or add-ons you do not use

If that sounds like your account, read our guide to fixing a broken GoHighLevel setup first. A downgrade from Unlimited to Starter may also solve a cost problem. HighLevel’s billing FAQ notes that downgrading does not automatically cancel add-ons, Marketplace apps or phone numbers, so remove those yourself if you no longer need them.

If you have decided HighLevel is not the right fit, compare options in our GoHighLevel alternatives guide. When you know where you are heading, our CRM migration service can help move your contacts and rebuild key automations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel my GoHighLevel subscription?

Go to Agency Settings, click Billing, then “Want to modify/cancel your subscription?” Click Show More, select Cancel Plan, choose a reason and confirm with “I am sure I want to cancel.” HighLevel then asks for at least 30 words of feedback. These steps come from HighLevel’s billing FAQ as of October 2026.

Can I cancel GoHighLevel anytime?

Yes. HighLevel’s terms of service say you can cancel your subscription through your account, by submitting a support ticket or by calling, and the billing FAQ shows the in-app steps. Keep in mind that HighLevel’s terms of service say fees are non-refundable, so cancelling mid-cycle does not return the unused part of your payment.

Does GoHighLevel give refunds?

HighLevel’s terms of service say all fees, including subscription fees, are non-refundable. Billing disputes must be sent in writing within 30 days of the invoice date. HighLevel’s billing FAQ adds that refund requests are reviewed by its billing team, so contact them promptly if you think you were charged in error.

How long does GoHighLevel keep my data after I cancel?

HighLevel keeps cancelled account data for 90 days and sends reminders at 60, 30 and 5 days before deletion. You can reactivate within that window and keep your data. Phone numbers and A2P registrations follow a shorter clock and are deleted 14 days after cancellation, so handle those first.

How do I cancel a GoHighLevel sub-account?

If you use a sub-account provided by an agency, contact that agency. HighLevel’s billing FAQ says it cannot cancel an account managed by another agency, so the agency admin has to remove or cancel your sub-account. Check your agreement with the agency for notice periods or fees, since those are set by the agency.

Can I reactivate GoHighLevel after cancelling?

Yes, within 90 days. HighLevel’s billing FAQ says you can reactivate by resuming your subscription, and your data will be restored. You can also pick a lower plan when you reactivate. After the 90-day retention period, HighLevel says deleted accounts and data cannot be restored.
